Job Summary This position is responsible for assuring the site's building and production equipment are properly maintained and designed to safely perform specified tasks in a cost-effective manner. This includes the identification, justification, and execution of capital projects; monitoring machine functionality/maintenance/planning of effective preventative maintenance activities; assuring the facility is meeting the needs of the operation in an effective manner, including inventory of necessities to achieve this objective; assuring the facility and its contents are in compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g. OSHA, NFPA, insurance carriers, etc.); continuous interface with other departments and plant leaders to plan and execute projects that improve safety, reduce manufacturing costs, improve production, and enhance repair of equipment breakdowns and facility concerns. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides the core function for the plants engineering and maintenance activities. Preventative maintenance, maximization of equipment utilization, parts inventory control, energy control, waste minimization/control, project identification and justification; process and machine troubleshooting; equipment installation; fire/loss protection, water treatment and cooling systems, and maintenance budget development/justification. Observes activities of the production workforce and applies insights to develop and modify systems to enhance productivity and/or reduce maintenance downtime and/or costs. Communicate with outside vendors and resources regarding maintenance matters. Coordinates project activity including equipment design/introduction with plant management. Supports plant management on environmental resources through waste management, pollution control, and administrative requirements. Completes necessary compliance activities associated with loss protection of facility and equipment. Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge: Know and use lean manufacturing principles. Understanding of mental fabrication equipment including Bend/Break, Slit, Shear and Roll Forming machines. Understanding of maintenance and repairs justification. Understanding of financial impacts of equipment, facility maintenance, and repairs. Working knowledge of regulatory bodies to include, but not limited to, OSHA and NFPA. Understanding of business practices relating to vendor contracts. Time management, work prioritization, and detail oriented. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop budgets. Computer operations skills to include Microsoft Office and SAP. Education and Experience: Associates degree or technical certification in a mechanical field or trade Two years in a facilities coordination role or similar/related field.
