WHY VEIR? Giving everyone in the world access to clean, reliable, affordable energy will require substantial expansion of global electricity transmission networks. VEIR is developing a new generation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based transmission lines, enabling long distance, reliable, low loss, cost-effective power transfer in far smaller right-of-ways. VEIR's innovations overcome the main barriers to transmission expansion, enabling the world to access the very lowest cost renewable power. VEIR is seeking a qualified Senior Power Distribution Applications Engineer to join our Product Team. This individual will provide electrical power technical support for integration of VEIR's superconducting system into low to medium voltage industrial applications which include green hydrogen generation, manufacturing and chemical processing. The Product Team is responsible for overseeing the requirements, development and lifecycle of VEIR's superconducting product lines, ensuring products meet customer needs and align with VEIR business goals. What You'll Do Support pre-sales efforts by interpreting customer specifications and electrical schematics to provide accurate, tailored application advice. Collaborate with customers and cross-functional engineering teams to create detailed system designs, including electrical schematics, mechanical layouts, and control integrations. Develop clear, customized responses to customer needs and RFPs, ensuring technical requirements and scope alignment. Perform technical reviews of VEIR's customer documentation, including installation guides, commissioning procedures, and user manuals. Work closely with external partners (e.g., contractors, EPCs) to finalize construction documents and ensure smooth project execution. Select and calculate the requirements for complementary equipment (such as switchboards, circuit breakers, and PDUs) for seamless integration with VEIR systems. Analyze customer specifications, single-line diagrams, and technical standards to determine optimal VEIR product solutions. Contribute insights to VEIR's product roadmap, drawing on market trends, competitor analyses, and customer feedback. Lead feasibility studies and proof-of-concept projects to validate new technologies and approaches, resolving technical issues collaboratively with engineering teams. Skills You Have Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred, with a focus on Power Systems. 5+ years of experience in the low-to-medium voltage power industry. Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and electrical modeling tools like ETAP or Cyme. Familiar with power distribution equipment and capable of analyzing single-line diagrams, electrical protection schemes, and transfer controls. Knowledgeable in applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA110, UL, CSA, ANSI, IEC). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating impactful, customer-facing documentation. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (including Visio) and project management software. Who You Are A highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys problem-solving and embraces technical challenges with a positive, solutions-driven approach. Effective communicator, able to convey technical information to diverse audiences and work well within cross-functional teams. Results-oriented, prioritizing measurable impact over checklist completion and skilled at navigating complex stakeholder perspectives to resolve conflicts. Curious and analytical, with an ability to deconstruct complex problems into actionable solutions. Dedicated to VEIR's mission and aligned with our values, embracing new challenges and pushing the boundaries of superconducting technology.
