Position Summary The Engineering Mechanic Overnight will be under general supervision, assists in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling, and general upkeep to keep the facility functional and attractive to prospective customers. A substantial amount of time will be spent painting. Essential Functions Conduct walk-through and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C. systems, and any other related equipment. Paint designated areas and complete plumbing repairs (i.e., clogged drains, copper pipe, change washers, change handles, drain fittings, etc.). Refurbish furniture and fixtures and repair all types of wall coverings. Complete all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces and grounds. Complete assignments of all repairs, replacement, and renovations projects to offices and employee work areas. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel. Perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned areas of expertise such as the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms and contents, laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, water treatment systems, and swimming pool, etc. Perform preventative maintenance on a regular basis and ensure that assigned equipment is maintained and operational. Report all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor. Replenish supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner and minimize waste. Take required readings on equipment. Replace light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, and fixtures. Protect employer's privacy and data; keep passwords safe. Qualifications Education: Specialized knowledge and skills or certification within a field or discipline such as plumbing, electrician, carpentry, equipment mechanics, HVAC, refrigeration, etc. Trade school and/or college coursework in related fields preferred. Experience: Experience in a hotel or a related field is preferred. Licenses or certificates: Any licenses or permits that may be required by law or company regulations, such as an Electrician's license. Other: Additional language ability preferred. Experience with opening new hotels or extensive renovation projects. Understand basic blueprints Certifications a plus. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
