The Senior Ultrasound Imaging Engineer will conduct advanced research and development activities focused on image and signal acquisition, processing, and analysis. This role is critical for the development of innovative, minimally invasive medical imaging technologies for diagnosing cardiovascular disease, requiring a comprehensive understanding of state-of-the-art imaging and signal processing techniques. This is a 6-month contract assignment, hybrid role, that would require the contractor to work on-site in our Bedford Office Tuesday-Thursday each week, with the ability to work remotely Monday and Friday. Responsibilities: Develop and refine image and signal processing algorithms for an ultrasonic intravascular scanning device, aiming to significantly enhance the quality of the images produced. Engage in research activities and product development planning, working closely with the marketing team and other stakeholders to align product capabilities with user needs and market requirements. Generate and contribute to new scientific and technological ideas, discoveries, and inventions, facilitating the protection of intellectual property through patents. Prepare detailed technical reports and deliver oral presentations. Qualifications: Master's degree required; Ph.D. preferred in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in medical imaging/image processing, with a strong preference for industry experience in ultrasound systems and image optimization techniques. Knowledge of traditional or conventional image processing is required. Knowledge of AI algorithms for image enhancement is desired but not required. Advanced proficiency in high-level programming languages, including MATLAB & Simulink; knowledge of modern programming languages such as Python, C#, or C++ is also desirable. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Must have the desire and ability to perform fast-paced, product-driven research and development within a small, diverse team environment.
