Description Join our dynamic national substation team as a Sr. Project Engineer where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the physical engineering of our nation's power grid. Collaborate with a technical team to design and implement innovative solutions for substation projects throughout the Midwest. This can be a remote position with travel required. What You'll Do: Lead complex substation projects, collaborating with internal multidiscipline teams, from full scope estimating and proposals, through detailed design and equipment procurement, to project construction bidding, to commissioning and construction support for energization. Review and produce physical design drawings, including General Arrangement, Elevations and equipment connection Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Conduit Plan and Details, Control Building Layout and Details, Foundation Plan and Details, and developing material lists. Review and perform studies and calculations to properly design substations, including grounding calculations, lightning protection calculations, battery bank sizing calculations, conduit fill calculations, and substation sizing calculations, as well as perform AC & DC substation studies. Perform detailed quality reviews (QA/QC) in accordance with established quality procedures and provide PE stamping for projects as required on projects and assist in the development of additional Professional Engineers within the team. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent Professional Engineer licensure and ability to obtain reciprocity in multiple states 6-10+ years of physical substation engineering experience related to electrical power substation design for Coops, Municipalities, and/or IOUs. Experience with CDEGS ground grid design software and AutoCAD are preferred. Knowledge of standard building codes including applicable IEEE codes and guides, RUS substation design guide and NESC. Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% when needed within the continental U.S. Not quite right for you?
