Job Type Full-time Description The Medical Biller/Client Services Representative plays a vital role in facilitating clear and effective communication within the billing department and with patients, providers, and other stakeholders. This position is responsible for managing incoming calls, handling multiple communication channels, and coordinating administrative tasks related to billing, referrals, and prior authorizations. Essential Functions: Utilize our billing system and processes/procedures to accurately and efficiently process billing for patients and insurance companies Monitor and respond to messages from patients and providers sent through Klara (or other communication systems) Manage all incoming and outgoing faxes related to billing, prior authorization and insurance verifications ensuring that faxes involving Veterans Affairs comply with VA requirements Reach out to referring providers to facilities to obtain the necessary referral information and documentation required for billing ant prior authorization purposes Professionally discuss financial obligations and options for payment and payment plans with patients Accurately apply payments and adjustments to patient accounts Manages the annual setup and continuous updates of fee schedules in EMA, ensuring accuracy and alignment with payer guidelines, and collaborates with the billing team to maintain efficient operations Update patient and insurance demographics/information as necessary Apply solid understanding of applicable coding guidelines and state and federal care guidelines Future responsibilities to include: monitoring and processing payments made through patient portal, manage and oversee text to pay system, submit patient assistance applications, manage billing and follow up for workers' compensation claims, handle patient and insurance refunds and complete end of day financial reconciliation for all office locations Minimum Requirements (education and experience): High School graduate or GED is required 1 year in office setting Preferred: Experience working in a medical office Understanding of Ophthalmic language and terms Financial experience in bookkeeping, receivables and payables Work Conditions: Typical office conditions Noise level is usually quiet Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, walk and stand Talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; Use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; Reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
