Overview & Responsibilities To set up and operate horizontal lathes and grinders related to the machining, grinding, milling and turning of all rotor shafts and sleeves. This would also include impeller coupons and grinding of buckets. Responsibilities Reviews the daily workload schedule. Interprets drawings (part & tool) and sketches, special engineering instruction, short forms and MPO instructions. Performs all necessary set-up operations. Performs all necessary machining operations. Performs all part and tool verification requirements using various measuring instruments and machine probing systems including the completion of data sheets. Performs all tool setting requirements. Performs all planned P/M requirements. Plans and completes all necessary tooling, set-up hardware and measuring gages to manufacture the parts. Utilizes DNC Network. Performs all layout and inspection functions. Obtains drawings, tools and fixtures from the tool crib or necessary materials from stock while maintaining the department tool inventory. Performs all assemblies and disassemblies as required. Monitors all machine tool functions. Marks parts for identification. Reports defective material, equipment and tooling to appropriate management personnel. Verifies accuracy of micrometers/gages as required. Deburrs as necessary. Rebuilds, adjusts, changes and dresses tools as required. Uses forklift truck, hoists, cranes, and other material handling equipment as required. Lubricates machine as required. Wipes and oils machine ways and keeps machine, tools and work area clean. Reports production count, time and identifying data as required. Prepares, completes and issues documentation relating to CNC shaft Lathe System. Communicates to oncoming shift the current status of the machining system and component parts. Qualifications Must be able and willing to work 1st (7am-3pm), 2nd (3pm-11pm) and 3rd (11pm-7am) shifts. Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to shift realignment. Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
