*OPENING EARLY 2025* The LPN is responsible for assisting the Physician, PA, or NP in supporting the medical care of urgent care patients. Day-to-day activities will vary from triage to answering phones, taking medical histories, performing lab work, and performing all nursing duties. Job Duties: • Performs general and medical assisting duties as appropriate according to state guidelines. • Records and signs all pertinent information in the patient's chart. • Greets patients in the lobby and escorts patients to the exam room. • Interview patients and records chief complaint, past and present patient history, social history, family history, medication history, measures, and records vital signs (a minimum of three essential characters). Follows evaluation and management guidelines. • Instruct patients in the collection of samples and tests. Collect, accurately label, and forward specimens for laboratory analysis. • Prepares patients and assists providers with examinations, treatments, and procedures. • Prepares and administers medications and injections after verifying the correct dosage. (Use the six rights of medication). • Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to Providers. • Prepares examination rooms; sterilizes instruments for tests per established procedures. • Thoroughly cleans equipment and examination rooms per policy. • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of infection control procedures; strictly adheres to policies and procedures; washes hands before and after each patient contact. • Instructs and arranges for patient testing and admissions. • Responds to and refers appropriate incoming telephone calls to Providers. • Instruct patient regarding medication and treatment instructions before discharge. • Posts tests and examination results to charts. • Explains and distributes patient education material (if applicable). • Answers patients' questions. • Escorts patients to the appropriate area in the clinic when necessary. Patient Records and Recall • Notify and record patients of test results, as directed by Provider. • Notifies patient of the next follow-up visit required. Requirements State of Louisiana license as a License Practical Nurse. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. IV certifications. Willing to attend continuing medical education courses at the request of the employer. Knowledge of OSHA requirements.. Effective interpersonal and communications skills. 1 year work experience is preferred.
