Job Description Statement of the job: The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) seeks applicants to fill the position of Medical Assistant - CL2. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be pivotal in providing high-quality care and assisting in the smooth day-to-day operations within the healthcare clinic. You will perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support our healthcare professionals, enhancing patient experiences and contributing to overall office efficiency. In this role you may delegate and/or coordinate work assignments and smaller projects to student workers, temporary employees and /or regular employees; may instruct others in work methods and/or procedures; may verify the work of others; may encourage teamwork and group efforts; may troubleshoot problems and issues of a more complex nature requiring significant knowledge of relevant policies, practices and rules. The starting rate is $19.59 per hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee within the ACSUM collective bargaining unit. In addition, the University will contribute up to a 4% matching contribution to the UMS retirement plan. A typical work year calendar is September 1st through May 31st. Visit our benefits website to learn more. Essential Duties, including but not limited to: Maintains medial supply inventory. Orients and directs MA students with supervision and oversight by physician, PA or NP. Supervises of MA I, with oversight by physician, PA or NP. May be assigned as HIPAA Compliance officer for the work unit with oversight by the Health Services Director. Performs phlebotomy, CLIA-Waived laboratory testing; obtains cultures as ordered by a and/or medical professional. Reviewing, interpreting, and explaining policies/procedures to students/parents/other staff. Using proper judgment and initiative in handling issues from students, parents, faculty, staff and the public. Assisting in developing policies and procedures to improve business processes. Trains staff and students on specialized programs and/or work procedures. Troubleshoots technological problems and coordinating with technical support services. Researching, sorting and summarizing a variety of routine and some non-routine data and information; integrating information from multiple data sources, and applying basic problem solving as needed.
