Reports To: Operations Manager FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Position Summary: The Machinist/Assembler position is responsible for manufacturing parts that fully meet all required specifications. It is the responsibility of the Machinist/Assembler to use correct machinery to produce each part. Once all components are manufactured, the position is responsible for assembling the machine that the components are manufactured for. Duties and Responsibilities: Set up and operate a variety of machinery including but not limited to manual mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and forklift. CNC programing and or operating a vertical and horizontal HASS Milling Machine would be a plus but not required. Making parts and holding them to the tolerances dictated by the print. Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications. Measuring and marking raw materials needed to manufacture parts. Analyzing specification charts, samples, and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of the requirements. Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects. Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop. Keep a well-maintained and organized workspace. Inventory parts and tools used in the assembly process. Test finished products and defects. Assemble equipment from prints and bill of material. Pluming of hydraulic and pneumatic lines and valves. Requirements Education and Experience Required: HS Diploma or GED Equivalent from an accredited institution Ability to read all necessary gauges. Attention to detail. Knowledge of each machine and their functions Reading, writing and math skills are essential. Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations. Skills in reading blueprints, fabrication and welding. Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective manufacturing plan based on specifications. Proven abilities to read assembly prints and bill of materials for the equipment we design and manufacture at this facility. Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: Machining in a Tool and Die industry. Minimum of 5 years prior experience in the trade, or journeyman card holder. Use of micrometers, calipers, and other industry gauging. Physical Requirements: Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds 4+ hours per shift Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment Must be able to work in crowded spaces for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to bend and crawl for 4+ hours per shift Much be able to crouch, kneel and stoop for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to climb ladders for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to sit, stand and walk for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, perform fine manipulation, and feel for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to operate foot pedals for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, express and exchange written or spoken word, and distinguish objects and equipment visually
