Tooling Technician

Job Description: Position: Tooling Technician III Location: Chatham, NY Wage: Up to $37.73/hr Shift: Swing shift (alternates weekly between 7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm) or 3rd shift (11pm-7am) Signing Bonus: Up to $5,000 Relocation Package: Partial Must-Have Qualifications: 1. Injection molding experience 2. Mechanical and electrical aptitude 3. Hydraulic and pneumatic experience 4. Two or more years of mold maintenance experience Job Description: The Tooling Technician III is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing molds and tools for optimal performance. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: - Follow and assist in developing Safety and Housekeeping procedures - Practical machining tasks, including milling, lathe turning, precision grinding, and polishing - Use of metrology equipment and documentation of measurements - Read and interpret Mold Prints, 3D Renderings, and Schematics - Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (cylinders, motors, valve gates, and hot runner systems) - Practical injection molding experience, including managing cooling, venting, and steel condition issues - Maintain communication between processing, production, and maintenance groups - Assist in documenting mold setups and assembly procedures - Follow daily mold setup and repair priorities as indicated by IQMS and scheduler - Perform Preventative Maintenance tasks as documented in the IQMS module Requirements: - Minimum of two years machine shop/mold maintenance experience with a high school diploma or equivalent - Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, hydraulics, and mechanical aptitude - Understanding of metrology and related equipment - Working knowledge of Windows-based PC programs - MIG or TIG welding experience is a plus Benefits: Sonoco Products Company offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including: - Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with FSA and HSA options - 401(k) retirement plan with company match - Wellbeing resources, including an Employee Assistance Program - Paid time off and holidays - A variety of company-paid and voluntary insurance options (life, personal accident, and disability) - Tuition reimbursement For more details or to apply, please contact .
