Job Description Job Title: Construction Project Engineer *Highways and Bridges Location: DC/Alexandria, MD Job Type: Full-time We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Project Engineer with a preference for experience in civil projects to join our dynamic team. As a Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the successful execution of construction projects, with a particular focus on roadways and bridges. Your expertise in project coordination, documentation, and communication will contribute to the overall success of our projects. Responsibilities: Collaborate with the project management team to plan, organize, and execute roadway and bridge construction projects from initiation to completion. Assist in the preparation of project schedules, including the sequencing of activities, resource allocation, and timeline management. Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project progress and adherence to project specifications and deadlines. Assist in the procurement of necessary materials, equipment, and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery and quality control. Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to identify potential conflicts, issues, or value engineering opportunities. Participate in project meetings, documenting meeting minutes, action items, and decisions. Assist in the preparation and submission of permits, RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and other project-related documentation. Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing potential risks, delays, or changes in scope. Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and project requirements. Assist in the preparation of project status reports, including progress updates, cost tracking, and variance analysis. Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members, promoting effective communication and collaborative problem-solving. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, continuously enhancing your knowledge and skills. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Previous experience working as a Project Engineer in the construction industry, preferably with exposure to roadways and bridges. Strong understanding of construction principles, processes, and industry best practices. Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications. Familiarity with construction software and project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Procore, Primavera P6, etc.). Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Availability for occasional travel to project sites as required.
