Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty: General Respiratory Care Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM, 36 hours per week Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 hours per week Experience: Minimum required experience in Pediatrics, PICU, and NICU License: State License as Respiratory Care Practitioner Certifications: - Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Must-Have: Pediatric, PICU, and NICU experience Job Description: - Perform all aspects of direct respiratory care according to physician orders and/or approved protocols. - Consult with physicians on the effectiveness of therapy and make appropriate recommendations. - Provide appropriate ventilator support and maintain and monitor cardiopulmonary life support equipment. - Demonstrate knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and necessary equipment. - Conduct and administer prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation. - Perform diagnostic procedures as outlined in the policy. - Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical and non-invasive ventilators. - Evaluate therapies using appropriate judgment and protocols, and recommend plans of care and patient education. - Document therapy and results per hospital, department, and regulatory guidelines. - Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team. - Initiate and modify respiratory care techniques in emergency settings. - Perform and evaluate blood sampling analysis, understanding values and treatment of abnormalities. - Work independently across all patient care areas, assisting co-workers with patient care. - Follow departmental safety guidelines and complete all regulatory requirements. - Complete annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures. - Demonstrate proficiency with electronic medical records and their interface with the Respiratory Care Department. - Possess the physical ability to walk, stand, and lift materials (20-50 pounds) to perform duties, and move patients of all age groups. - Adapt to work environments that may include odors, low lighting, and crowded conditions.
