Ophthalmology opening in PA - Located in Bethlehem, PA - Full-time, permanent position - BE/BC, Fellowship trainedPosition Overview:Facility is the regions largest and most established health system, a major teaching hospital, and one of the nations 100 Top Hospitals. We are seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible subspecialty Ophthalmologists fellowship-trained in Cornea/Refractive/Cataract/Anterior Segment.Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join a dedicated community of faculty, colleagues, and students at the School of Medicine. Responsibilities include clinical care, teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activities. Depending on their skillset and interest, candidates may also assist in developing the Division of Cornea, Refractive, Cataract, and Anterior Segment within the new Department of Ophthalmology.Key Responsibilities: - Conduct history and physical examinations of all patients. - Provide cost-effective, high-quality care based on best practice and evidence-based medicine. - Adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff. - Demonstrate competency in patient assessment, treatment, and communication appropriate to the patients age. - Maintain regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients, and their families. - Educate patients and their families on health care needs and preventive measures. - Evaluate and implement patient health care needs, initiate treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures. - Review lab results and plan actions accordingly. - Perform routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients. - Coordinate patient care and make referrals to other health professionals as needed. - Collaborate with public and mental health agencies for patient and family counseling. - Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills. - Ensure confidentiality of all materials and comply with Network and departmental policies regarding safety and reporting requirements.
