Your Role: The Packaging Engineer is responsible for executing operational support of global packaging materials packaging engineering, science, and compliance functions, supporting operational safety, compliance, sustainability, and commercial business needs. The overarching goal of the Packaging Engineer is to protect everyone in the chain of custody of a package containing chemical or biological products and ensure a superior customer experience by receiving world class packaging with no damaged or leaking products. The Packaging Engineering is a member of a US based team that (1) performs the functions and duties of related to safe and compliant packaging of regulated hazardous materials and other related chemicals and biologicals, (2) enters new and edits existing Bill of Materials and PH Bill of materials in SAP, (2) performs related duties in introduction, extension, re-instatement, and deletion of packaging material components, (3) performs related duties within the scope of Packaging Engineering databases and software systems, and (4) oversees proper qualification testing and operational use of packaging materials. Performs duties related to packaging bills of materials and packaging engineering team data management. Performs duties with adherence to documented SOPs. Performs duties related to packaging material change control mechanisms, including Trackwise. Resource for developing and documenting SOPs related to data management and ERP functions. Resource for packaging operations and distribution center systems work related to Packaging Engineering. Resource for manufacturing operations, including managing of filling trials and related packaging qualification. Resource for packaging operations, including primary, secondary, and outer packaging. Resource for global harmonization of packaging materials and methods. Resource for identifying and maintaining routes to compliance for packaging materials. Resource for packaging specifications - packaging materials and raw materials of construction. Resource for packaging systems design and implementation projects, including filling and dispensing systems Resource for special projects and data analysis related to packaging. Obsesses with internal and external customers. Who You Are: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Science or Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.) 6+ months of experience in a packaging science or engineering role 6+ months of experience in ERP systems (preferably SAP), data management, and information technology Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in Packaging Science or Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.) Packaging knowledge of chemical or biologic substances Exceptional communication kills Advanced computer software skills Ability to travel periodically Customer experience Business acumen Knowledge of production or supply chain logistics/planning Knowledge of UN, DOT, and IATA dangerous goods transportation and packaging regulations Knowledge of global food safety regulations related to packaging materials (FDA, EU) Knowledge of health care or medical device packaging material regulations The Company is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
