Gilbane is seeking a Chief Estimator I that has overall responsibility for administration and execution of all estimating activities for a Business Unit. This role will sit primarily in the office, but may travel to the project job sites meeting with the project teams and subcontractors. Who are we? Responsibilities Establish Customer Satisfaction goals for Estimating Leads in developing accurate pricing for design-phase or GMP estimates Maintains appropriate industry contacts to insure best and final information on market pricing and trends Identify and resolve problems under conditions of incomplete information and uncertainty Schedules department estimating and deliverables and balances workload accordingly Manages the department to assure multiple duties and responsibilities are executed by all staff members Communicates with operations staff in planning work schedules Identify and communicate risks and outcomes affecting the Business Unit Assumes overall lead for business unit strategic planning process Trains and develops staff Manages BD process Responsible for keeping BUL informed of activities, progress and problems as it pertains to Estimating activities Qualifications EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION Bachelor in Engineering 15-20 years relevant experience Or equivalent combination of education and experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Able to estimate all types of building projects, including residential high rise, healthcare, interiors and institutional Knowledge of suitable electrical contractors and suppliers for all types of projects Familiar with both union and merit shop electrical contractors preferred Knowledge of typical electrical pricing for project types above; for both union and merit shop projects preferred Able to take concept and schematic drawings and develop a meaningful estimate with detail Familiar with the use of On-Screen Take-off software program preferred Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Albany and Buffalo, NY this ranges from $137,200.00-$188,700.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
