Our family of brands includes Transco, Total Transportation, Maggies Paratransit, and GVC II.Job SummaryWe are hiring a Gas and Diesel Mechanic for our shop serving Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda, Erie County, Amherst, Lasalle, Maryvale, and Niagara County School petitive Hourly Wage: $29.87 per hour is set per Union contract.Additional Compensation: An additional $0.20 per hour for each ASE certification you possess or obtain.Sign-on Bonus: $3,500*Company Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid holidays, and vacation.Job Security: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm full-time shift schedule and consistent, year-round work.Professional Development: State-of-the-art training programs and ASE testing and training materials.About the JobAs a Gas and Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will help maintain and repair Ford Transits, Chevy Suburbans, Chevy Express vans, Freightliner C2, and International conventional school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.Ensure work orders are completed accurately.Assist with mobile emergency services.RequirementsValid Driver's License: Required; willing to obtain CDL while employed.Experience: At least 5 years of diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education with some automotive experience.Tools and Certifications: Possess a mechanic's tool set and willingness to participate in the ASE certification program.Additional Requirements: Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.Equal Employment OpportunityAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
