Clinician I, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Who we are: The University of New Haven, founded on the Yale campus in 1920, is a private, coeducational university that has been recognized by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report for academic excellence. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of New Haven is seeking a pre-licensed clinician (LMSW, LPC-A) to join our staff. This is a full-time (35 hour) 12-month position reporting to the Director of CAPS. CAPS is an interdisciplinary team including clinical disciplines. The clinical role at CAPS includes individual counseling to students, crisis management, campus outreach to the student body, collaboration with campus partners, and participation on campus committees. We are seeking a clinician with strong clinical knowledge, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, both as a part of clinical work and in furthering the campus community. A strong candidate will have knowledge and skills around short term, intensive work. You are: Able to problem solve, make decisions and show flexibility and adaptability, particularly in a fast-paced environment Knowledgeable about issues impacting college students Experienced in crisis intervention and response, preferably in a higher education setting You will: Work closely with CAPS staff and related campus partners Provide individual, group and crisis counseling to students of UNH Provide after hours emergency on-call coverage on a rotating basis Create and implements outreach opportunities to the campus community, available for occasional after hours outreach Participate in various campus committees as a CAPS representative Work closely with campus partners to support the well-being of our students and provide a CAPS perspective Liaise with the university key diversity offices- Myatt Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, DEI-AB Committee, and Diversity officer as CAPS representatives Provide training to CAPS staff and to campus staff related to counseling, mental health, their area of expertise Be responsible for gaining and maintaining appropriate licensure and CEU hours to maintain licensure, as well as any needed professional memberships and liability insurance. Perform any other duties as required to fulfill role You need: Clinical Degree in related field (Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology) Applicable licensure (LPC-A; LMSW; etc.) Knowledge/ experience working with underrepresented, diverse populations Clinically skilled, of particular interest in intensive, short term models Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work within a team; sharing projects and collaborating both with team colleagues as well as campus partners effectively.
