Applicants must have experience in Class B Van or RV Manufacturing, or closely related field.This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship; additionally, as we are looking for qualified applicants who want to stay on long-term and grow with the company, we are unable to consider students or recent graduates on CPT or OPT.Role Overview: As a CAD Designer with Remote Vans, you will be an integral part of our Engineering Team, taking full responsibility for parts and models for our vehicles and production line. You will collaborate closely with team members to tackle design challenges, ensuring projects are completed with exceptional quality and in a timely manner. Your enthusiasm for camper vans, exploration, and teamwork drives your work, making every project an opportunity to blend creativity with functionality.General Responsibilities: Develop SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and technical drawingsblueprints to support various stages of production, collaboration with vendors, and overall project requirements.Design and create parts and components that are innovative, intuitive, and user-friendly, ensuring ease of use and enhancing the overall user experience.Collaborate with production teams to revise and provide detailed drawings and files for CNC machining, ensuring accurate and efficient fabrication of components required for production.Reverse engineer supplier parts when CAD data is necessary.Develop design concepts and revise parts based on DFM best practices.Collaborate with production team members to identify and address failure points, bottlenecks, and quality issues, and develop resolution plans.Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to adjust designs to meet "As-Built" specifications and refine modelsprints to align with production municate effectively with vendors regarding materials, supply, cost and weight savings, issues, and manufacturing details.Research and source materials and vendor methods to achieve cost and weight reductions.Assist with vehicle assembly as required.Contribute to the success of the Engineering, Production, and Assembly Teams by fostering collaboration and teamwork.QualificationsSkills:Proficiency in SolidWorks, including modeling, assembly creation, technical drawings, and best practices in PDM, revision control, and change management.Proficiency in designing and constructing parts for high-end recreational vehicles or similar products; experience with Class B Vans or RVs.Proficiency in manufacturing practices, with mandatory experience in sheet metal and CNC machining; familiarity with plastics, 3D printing, thermoforming, and molded plastics is preferred.Proficiency in design for manufacturing principles, with focus on weight reduction and cost optimization.Familiarity with lightweight, weather-resistant, and durable materials used in outdoor vehicle construction.Familiarity with designing for compliance with federal regulations and standards from governing bodies such as the FMVSS and RVIA.Demonstrates exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills, maintaining a positive attitude and effective communication even in high-stress environments and during challenging situations.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-motivated approach.Strong attention to detail.Proficient in G-Suite applications.Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and actively listen.Education and Experience Preferred: 4+ years SolidWorks modeling experience including sheet metal, and weldmentsPrior experience working in or around manufacturing with a high level understanding of common manufacturing methodsProven track record of working in a fast-paced, high-stress position that requires high levels of attention to detailAssociate's Degree in Industrial Design or similarExperience partnering with vendorssuppliers
