Produce Buyer$75-110K DOE + bonusWe are seeking a skilled Buyer to manage inventory and product sourcing for a major food service redistribution company. The Buyer will strategically select and manage suppliers, ensuring optimal inventory levels, product quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves leadership in purchasing strategy, supplier relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize gross profit and customer satisfaction. This opportunity can be remote or hybrid and requires up to 20 percent travel. You MUST be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.Key Responsibilities:Leadership: Oversee market strategies, pricing recommendations, and inventory control. Collaborate across departments to manage product lifecycles and sourcing activities.Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiate competitive pricing, and continuously seek new vendors.Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of product portfolio, market dynamics, and industry segments. Provide customers with detailed product information and support.Reporting & Analysis: Monitor supplier performance, manage inventory levels, and communicate market conditions and supply chain updates.Customer Interaction: Regular communication with customers to ensure satisfaction and compliance with order requirements.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.3-5+ years of purchasing experience in retail or food service, specifically in fruits and vegetables, is a MUST!Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.Strong experience in inventory management and quality assurance.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Quality & Safety Compliance:Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and SQF Certification requirements.Understanding of food safety legislation, product traceability, and incident management protocols.This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the success of a dynamic and growing company.
