We're on a mission to raise the bar on journalism, and delivering world-class digital products is key in fulfilling that mission.As a Data Analyst at Straight Arrow News, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative team that is constantly seeking to improve the news media industry and deliver news to viewers in innovative ways. Your work will involve analyzing and reporting on SAN audience data and providing executive management with insights and recommendations based on data.The ideal candidate will have a passion for turning complex data into actionable insights that can shape digital strategies.ResponsibilitiesData Analysis & Insight Generation: Leverage digital analytics data from various web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, AppsFlyer, Amplitude) to extract insights that drive user engagement, optimize content strategies, and identify growth opportunities.Automated Reporting & Visualization: Develop and maintain automated dashboards and reports using tools such as Google Data Studio to provide stakeholders with up-to-date insights into key performance metrics.Deep Analysis of User Behavior: Analyze user data to uncover critical insights, including identifying factors that contribute to user retention and engagement.Data Cleaning & Transformation: Conduct data cleaning, transformation, and integration from various sources, ensuring data accuracy and consistency for analysis.Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product, marketing, and content teams to translate data insights into actionable recommendations that support business goals and improve user experiences.AB Testing & Experimentation: Design, implement, and analyze AB tests to assess the impact of new features, content strategies, and product changes.Data Integrity & Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data through regular audits, identifying any inconsistencies and collaborating with tech teams to address them.Predictive Modeling & Machine Learning: Implement light machine learning models and predictive analytics to forecast user trends, enhance targeting strategies, and inform data-driven decision-making.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.3+ years of experience in data analysis in a digital media or tech environment.Expertise with web analytics platforms, such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar.Experience with app analytics and event tracking for mobile applications.Strong skills in SQL for querying databases and Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.Experience with data visualization tools like Google Data Studio, Tableau, or Power BI.Solid understanding of data analysis techniques, including regression analysis, segmentation, and cohort analysis.Ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets and effectively communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Proficiency in internet consumer data privacy matters, including consent management.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Data Science, Analytics, or a related field.Experience with predictive modeling and light machine learning, using libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.Experience with AB testing frameworks and statistical analysis of experiment results.Knowledge of data engineering concepts and experience working with cloud data warehouses like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.Experience working in agile project management environments and using tools like JIRA or Asana.Certification in web analytics platforms, such as Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ).
