Shipping Coordinator

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing the day to day logistical activities for shipping and receiving of the Plant facility. Responsibilities include ensuring personnel operate efficiently and safely, maximizing loads while minimizing shipping costs, and coordinating with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to ensure on-time delivery of customer products and high customer satisfaction.This role is 3rd shift. Major Job Responsibilities: Business Excellence • Coordinate daily dispatch to ensure timely and cost-effective shipment methods• Plan and maintain weekly shipping schedule to ensure on-time pick and delivery of customer products• Maintain record of counts, quantities and descriptions of inventory being shipped and received• Reconcile all load reports with Kiwi ESP to ensure accuracy of inventory being loaded and shipped• Identify opportunities to maximize manufactured square footage (MSF) per trailer to increase utilization of assets and increase cost savings• Review prior day shipping report to confirm shipment with dedicated carriers, customer pick-ups, and breakdown of MSF to identify opportunities to increase efficiency• Coordinate material staging, shipments, pick and pack order fulfillment, expired inventory destruction, and raw and customer owned inventory• Maintain working knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and general routes to create time efficient shipping schedules• Review customer specifications to determine the most efficient carton size and pallet pricing• Utilize Kiwi application to track and confirm inbound and outbound loads to account for inventoryPeople and Culture • Work collaboratively with Production to assess, manage, and prioritize customer requests to ensure load planning accuracy, mitigate delays, and enable high customer satisfaction• Communicate production updates and delivery statuses with Customer Service and customers to enable a positive customer experience• Ensure Shipping Clerks safely operate material handling equipment (e.g. forklift) and properly adhere to all safety regulations and procedures• Coach and train Shipping employees on departmental procedures to enable performance excellenceJob Description • Partner with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to coordinate dock times for customer receipt of inventoryCritical Skills Capabilities: • Time Management: Plans, prioritizes, and manages time spent on accomplishing tasks to increase productivity and efficiency; demonstrates awareness and control over amount of time spent on activities; meets deadlines• Organizational Skills: Plans, arranges andor monitor's work to ensure achievement of desired results; establishes a systematic course of action to accomplish objectives• Communication: Clearly exchanges thoughts, ideas, and messages through written, verbal, and non-verbal methods that promote an understanding with the target audience; listens carefully and attentively• Coach: Demonstrates basic understanding of the individual and organizational benefits of career development; provides feedback to direct reports andor peers on job skills and personal behavior; identifies employees' areas of strengths and developmental needs• Decision-Making: Plans and decides on the course of action while allowing for flexibility to support ad-hoc scenarios; demonstrates ability to balance competing priorities• Adaptability: Demonstrates agility, flexibility, and a willingness to modify one's approach to achieve desired results; responds quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated informationTechnical Skills: • Microsoft Office - Excel, OutlookWork Environment: • Work in an office within the plant environment; noisy work environment; moderately climate-controlled environment; exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures; exposure to machinery conditions of over 100⁰F; maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulationsExperience: • Required: 3 years of experience in Shipping and Receiving in a warehouse environment• Preferred: Knowledge of inventory management best practicesEducation: • Required: High School diploma or G.E.D.• Preferred: 2- year technical degree or certificate program in a Logistics or related field
