Salary : $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 Annually Location : Graham, NC Job Type: Full-Time Exempt Job Number: Division: Governance, Strategy, and Communications Department: Information Services Opening Date: 06/12/2024 Closing Date: 11/17/2024 11:59 PM Eastern Description Re-posted on 10/28/2024 The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Alamance Community College is responsible for overseeing the Information Services (IS) department and leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive IS strategy that supports the educational and administrative objectives of the college. The CIO will ensure that the IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, and efficient, and will foster innovation to enhance the educational environment and operational effectiveness of the college. Example of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Strategic IS Planning: Develop and execute a strategic IS plan that aligns with the college's mission and goals, focusing on enhancing educational outcomes and administrative efficiencies. Leadership and Team Management: Lead the IS department, including recruitment, training, and development of IS staff. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and performance-oriented environment. Technology Infrastructure: Oversee the maintenance, enhancement, and secure operation of all IS systems, including networks, data management, user support services, and telecommunications. Cybersecurity: Develop and implement robust cybersecurity policies and systems to protect college data and network resources from unauthorized access and cyber threats. Budget Management: Manage the IS budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost-effective procurement of technology solutions. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to understand their technology needs and challenges, ensuring the IS strategy supports all aspects of college operations. Innovation and Adoption of New Technologies: Stay abreast of emerging technology trends and assess their potential impact on the college. Promote the adoption of new technologies that enhance learning, teaching, and administrative processes. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Prepare reports and presentations for the college leadership and governing boards on IS strategy and operations. Crisis Management and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain plans for IS disaster recovery and business continuity in the event of emergencies. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has supervisory responsibilities. Directly supervises employees in the Information Services Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Typical Qualifications Education and/or Experience Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a higher education setting or comparable complex organization. Demonstrated experience in IT strategic planning and execution, cybersecurity, network and infrastructure management, and team leadership. Strong understanding of higher education academic and administrative processes. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage budgets and lead IT procurement. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
