Maimonides is an affiliate of Northwell Health and a major clinical training site for SUNY Downstate College of this role full-time role as a Child Life Specialist, you will provide Child Life services for a 25-bed Pediatric Unit & an 11-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Maimonides is a state-designated Regional Perinatal Center, and more babies are born at Maimonides than at any other hospital in NYS. For info: Some responsibilities include:Assess and communicate developmental and psychosocial concerns of infants, children, youth, and families to multi-disciplinary team.Provide psychoeducation specific to the population served, including preparation and support for potentially stressful medical experiences.Utilize appropriate non-pharmacological pain management strategies.Assess responses to stress; plan, implement and evaluate care troduce and facilitate rehearsal of techniques to aid immediate and long-term coping with consideration for the unique needs of the individual and familyPrecept andor supervise students, graduate interns and volunteers.Evaluate, develop & implement services within culture of the work environment.Encourage creative expression with various creative arts modalities.We require:Master's Degree in Child Life or related field strongly pletion of 600 internship hours.Certified Child Life Specialist or ability to gain certification within one year of employment.Ability to work flexible hours and some weekends.Salary: $61,000-$81,000 based on experience.
