Our collaborative approach and commitment to excellence set us apart in the industry.Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Environmental Engineering Intern to join our growing environment department in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role is primarily an on-site role with occasional remoteoffice based work opportunities. The day-to-day tasks relate to design during construction, environmental compliance, remedial construction oversight, health and safety policy development and enforcement, construction oversight documentation support, stakeholder communication, remedial design preparation, and report writing. The candidate will have the ability to learn directly from the Engineer of Record for a number of environmental remediation and civil-site development projects in both New York and Northern New Jersey. Candidate will have the ability to obtain a wide-range of knowledge of ongoing construction, environmental compliance and design, and interact with key stakeholders on a wide-range of projects from conceptual design to closeout.ResponsibilitiesAssist in environmental compliance projects, with a strong focus on NYCDEP and NYCDEP Office of Environmental Remediation (OER) projects for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.Perform regular field observation activities, prepare daily reports, and complete related construction documentation to ensure all remedial construction activities meet regulatory criteria for New York City agencies.Support the development and implementation of environmental designs and policies, and assist regulators in enforcing relevant state, local, and federal regulatory requirements and reporting municate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.Perform physical tasks to maintain field equipment and fulfill onsite responsibilities, including lifting up to 50 pounds, as required during daily field activities.Prepare and maintain onsite documentation such as dailyweekly field reports, trucking log, design submittal reviews, waste manifests, SWPPP qualified inspector reports, weekly CAMP logs, and other project specific documents. Implement Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) including the operation of associated monitoring equipment and prepare daily reports to OER. Perform Weekly Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) qualified inspector reports.QualificationsMust be currently pursuing a degree in the following areas: Environmental Science, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or other related fields. (Candidates with previous work experience andor have graduated in the above areas of study will also be considered)Must be willing to work outdoors in varying degrees of weather conditions.Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred to effectively communicate with all members of the project team.Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required to operate and maintain field equipment.OSHA 40 Hr. HAZWOPER Safety Training CertificateOSHA 10 Hr. Construction Safety Training Certificate (required as a condition of employment, training costs to be reimbursed upon hire).Ability to report to work consistently and during the hours of 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.Available to start immediately or within two weeks (max.).Additional QualificationsStrong verbal and written communication and report writing skills.Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, other industry related certifications, andor previous internship experience in civil or environmental engineering a plus.Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or other related software is a plus.Envicon Engineering is an equal opportunity employer.
