The nature, diversity, and scope of responsibilities related to this position require the frequent use of contractual and risk management principles, discretion, problem-solving skills, project management skills, collaboration, self-initiative, independent judgment, and willingness to play a role in the development of work processes using technology. Counsel must effectively work with all Company functions and Company affiliates and will perform work that is often sensitive and confidential.Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Provide sound legal advice to cross-functional teams, identify legal issues, and provide legal optionsanalysis of possible legal solutionsStrategic oversight of the legal matters of the business as a whole, including legal advice concerning vendorcustomer contracts, commercial real estate documents and dispute resolutionCoordinate with outside counsel on litigation, commercial, and regulatory matters and provide advice related to such mattersPartner with commercial and procurement teams in developing, reviewing, managing and negotiating commercial agreements including, but not limited to nondisclosure, consulting, professional services, master service agreements, software licenses, and goods and services agreementsSupport the development, implementation, training and maintenance of Company policies and proceduresSupport Company regulatory and compliance activities, as neededProvide legal support for intellectual property managementReal estate experience preferred to support negotiation and drafting of real estate documents, including, but not limited to easements, licenses, rights-of-way, and purchase and sale agreements in support of Company projects and initiativesLabor and employment experience a plus to support Human Resources, including advice on employment lawQualificationsBasic Required QualificationsEducationLaw degree from an accredited law school with strong academic recordExperienceMinimum 6-8 years of experienceLicensed to practice law and in good standing in one or more U.S. jurisdictionsOther RequirementsDemonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated strong written and oral communications skillsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and a project through to completionDemonstrated experience identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectivelyPreferred QualificationsStrategic thinker, problem solverAbility to interact confidently with all segments of the businessResourceful, self-starter, results orientedPossess strong business acumen together with legal knowledge needed to become a trusted resource for employees throughout the organizationAble to assess and manage competing priorities and still contribute thoughtful and high-quality work productAbility to develop and implement effective processesPossess sound professional judgment with the highest integrity and ethical standardsThe ability to write in a clear and concise mannerThe ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and competing deadlinesThe ability to build relationships and trust with a large and diverse customer baseThe ability to work the schedule for which hiredAdditional informationClean Earth offers competitive benefits including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans starting on the first day of employment; paid time off, wellness benefits, employee discount program, tuition assistance, and a 401k with company matching.We provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, gender identity, or genetics.
