While we strive to be the best, we do it with an attitude that is humble, accessible, and down-to-earth.Job Summary:The Commercial Superintendent is the backbone of our commercial projects and is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of assigned projects from turnover to close-out. They will partner with a Commercial Project Coordinator to ensure that key project milestones are achieved efficiently and profitably. The Superintendent's role is to drive job planning, relay accurate field information to the office, and ensure customer satisfaction and quality meet company standards. They are accountable for managing labor, setting clear expectations, and ensuring crews have the necessary resources to succeed.Key Responsibilities: Project Planning & Execution: Develop and execute job plans for assigned commercial projects. Ensure that all plans, materials, tools, and resources are in place to meet project timelines and standards. Lead crews, ensuring they are set up for success with clear and accurate information and proper job preparation. Relay field information and updates promptly to the office for tracking and job coordination. Customer Satisfaction & Quality Control: Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction by delivering quality work that meets or exceeds company standards. Act as the main point of contact for clients on-site, addressing concerns and providing updates as needed. Collaborate with the office team and escalate issues to the Lead Superintendent or General Manager if necessary. Labor Management: Lead, Manage, and hold Accountable (LMA) crews on-site, ensuring they are efficiently executing tasks in line with the project plan. Monitor labor hours, adjust as necessary, and ensure profitability is achieved on all jobs. Support crews by ensuring they have the current plans, tools, and resources required to perform their work effectively. Variance & Issue Resolution: Identify and capture variances or issues on-site, taking the necessary steps to deconflict and resolve them. Communicate potential risks and challenges to the project team to ensure proactive issue management. Documentation & Reporting: Partner with the Commercial Project Coordinator to manage paperwork, documentation, and office-driven communication. Ensure accurate job tracking, timely reporting, and complete project documentation for turnover and close-out phases. Team Collaboration: Participate in commercial team meetings to provide critical financial performance, job planning, and resource allocation input. Work closely with the Preconstruction and Sales departments to utilize their support when necessary.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in commercial construction, preferably in a supervisory or superintendent role.Strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on efficient project execution.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to relay field information effectively.High attention to detail and a strong understanding of project cost controls and profitability management.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.Familiarity with commercial construction processes, job planning, and labor management.Proficiency with construction management software and job-tracking tools is preferred.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in fencing or a similar industry is a plus.OSHA certification or other relevant safety training is desirable.Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is a plus.Location: Office in Cortland, IL, with regular travel in Northern Illinois and neighboring states as needed.
