Job Summary:The purpose of this position is to execute packaging development initiatives from concept to commercialization while working closely with cross-functional partners. The primary project work typically will include new packaging growth programs, productivity initiatives and quality improvements. The Packaging Engineer is responsible for a variety of packaging projects across multiple formats and for multiple products. The incumbent will have contact with packaging material suppliers in the USA as well as overseas and will be required to coordinate project activities with all these suppliers simultaneously at times. This is a hybrid position with two days a week in our NYC office, one day a week in our NJ lab, and two days remote.ResponsibilitiesWork with external vendors, eos Creative and Marketing team members to develop secondary packs, developing best practice packaging processes, finalizing specifications, managing overall quality and package functionalityFocus on secondary packaging development and merchandising structuresDiscover new productstechnology to "raise the bar" in packaging for innovation and sustainability goalsManage technical timelines for projects providing timely communication, outlining issues, risks and contingency plansDevelop written testing protocols and complete thorough plant trials for various products linesCollaborate with Quality team to problem solve and troubleshoot when deviations occur in productionConduct packaging component testing to validate new launch itemsWork as liaison between the Packaging Team in NY and the R&DQuality Team in NJDevelop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends within the packaging disciplineAccountable for the creation and maintenance of packaging component specifications and finished good assembly instructionsIdentify new suppliers to improve qualitypriceflexibility and expand current package capabilityWork in conjunction with Creative and Marketing to design and develop eye catching packaging that will contribute to sales growthRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent relevant experience1-3 years' experience, ideally in Beauty andor CPG environmentAbility and willingness to learn new technical areas leveraging internal and external resourcesStrong organizational and communication skillsCompany Summary:eos Products is an iconic global beauty brand that has sold nearly a billion lip balms worldwide.
