Underwriting Associate

A highly successful middle-market direct lending firm is seeking an Underwriting Associate to join its lean Underwriting team. The role involves reviewing new investment opportunities and monitoring existing investments. This position offers excellent mentorship, a strong team culture, and valuable learning opportunities. *The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of relevant experience in leveraged finance, investment banking, or commercial -Office Policy: 3 days in office, 2 days remoteResponsibilities:Evaluate new investment opportunities by reviewing Confidential Information Memorandums across various industries and transactions, such as leveraged buyouts, mergers & acquisitions, dividend recaps, and refinances.Conduct in-depth due diligence, including management presentations, data room analysis, and market research through expert calls and third-party reports, to identify key trends and performance indicators.Create diligence and financial data request lists for deal evaluation, and prepare both initial and final credit approval memorandums, detailing company overviews, capital structures, risks, and financial models for Investment Committee review.Assist in coordinating deal closings, including negotiating credit agreements with external counsel.Monitor portfolio performance by reviewing financial statements, attending lender meetings, providing regular updates to the Investment Committee, and working on incremental debt raises for portfolio companies.
