We are a leading engineering firm known for quality, responsiveness, and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. .As the Project Engineer - Civil, you will beresponsible for applying intensive and diversified knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices in broad areas. You will use advanced techniques, theory precepts, and practices in the civil engineering field and related sciences and disciplines. A lead position, this level includes technical direction over a group of civil engineers and/or functions as a technical specialist, formulating and developing advanced civil engineering concepts. Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities Actively engage clients consistently to maintain and promote work. Assists in the recruitment of new hires. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring developing new or improved civil engineering techniques or procedures to create new or refined equipment, materials, processes, or methods. Conducts constructability reviews or assists in the design/planning/review of other civil engineering projects not assigned to the incumbent. Coordinates technical and administrative activities with those of other disciplines and other * departments in the company participating in a project. Help build the company's capabilities by recruiting talented, goal-oriented associates and providing in-depth training and mentoring. Identify and secure partners without sacrificing quality. Initiates action plan to approach and secure new client relationships for IEI. Lead business development activities and regional strategies to achieve sales goals. Markets the firm's capabilities within the civil engineering specialty to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. May assist the Department/Division Manager in preparing the department/division budget and policy implementation. May supervise civil engineering and support personnel. Evaluates performance; assigns and schedules work; establish project priorities and standards; makes recommendations on hiring, firing, and promotions; provides technical support of project work. Participates in selecting design teams and sub-consultants and negotiating fees and subcontractors. Perform QA/QC of plans, calculations, specifications, and quantities developed by civil engineering and other project engineers as per IEI QA/QC plan. Prepares proposals for potential projects. Promotes and fosters excellence in all aspects of securing work for the firm and the delivery of services. Promotes overall growth of the company. Seeks out and targets potential clients and new sales opportunities. Serve as a public relations ambassador - Be proactive in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company to the public. Serves as a technical specialist, staff advisor, and consultant to the civil engineering specialty for a given land/site development, public works, and/or transportation-related project or program function. Set up meetings and/or participate in developing proposals as requested. Solicit New Clients/Projects - In interfacing with potential or existing clients, listen for and seek out new projects that may exist or are being formulated. Takes the initiative in developing and/or refining existing templates and procedures to streamline effort for the entire team. Takes time to train and mentor colleagues on acquired skill sets to improve overall team quality and performance. To join IEI's team and take on this role, you will have the following qualifications: Minimum 5 years of specialized work experience within a discipline Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Registration as a Professional Engineer or obtaining licensure within six months of hire is required. Ability to comprehend and apply advanced calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory principles. Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or styles. Ability to make compelling and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Fundamental knowledge of structural engineering. Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Proven leadership skills with engineering staff and organizations. Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment who can work on and contribute to several projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete. Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents. Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports. Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime. Usually works in outside weather conditions.
