Charles P. Johnson & Associates, Inc. (CPJ) seeks an energetic, highly motivated Mid-Level/Senior Civil Engineer to join our Fairfax, Virginiaoffice, to serve as a Project Manager/Civil Engineering Designer, working on the production of various types of engineering plans in multiple jurisdictions in Northern Virginia. The candidate should have Team Leadership Experience, Technical Expertise, Critical Decision-Making Skills, and some Public Relations Savvy. The Mid-Level/Senior Civil Engineer candidate knows how to be a team player as well as lead a team to success. This career opportunity is located in Fairfax, Virginia. MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE Provides Technical knowledge and skill and project management of design, production, and coordination of conceptual and final design of civil engineering tasks. Advises and recommends design procedures and interfaces with clients and public agencies. Must be experienced with typical civil engineering elements, to include roadways, site grading, stormwater management, earthwork erosion & sediment control, environmental compliance, Water and sewer plans, water modeling, ADA compliance, and pavement markings & signage. Work involves analytical ability to select and recommend design procedures, interpret ordinances and specifications, analyze design requirements, and provide design solutions. JOB DUTIES Designer and technical resource to the team as well as Quality Control of plan submissions Resolve issues with agencies, clients, and CPJ staff/departments. Coordinate land development projects with the client, agencies, and CPJ staff. Be the CPJ Project Manager for select clients and projects to Monitor the entitlement process and coordinate with CPJ departments. Be the client point of contact and do what is necessary to keep the client happy. Read and interpret survey data, legal description, government standards and codes, and applies to design. Prepare site and subdivision plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects in local counties to include storm water management, storm sewer plans and profiles, outfall analysis, sanitary sewer plans and profiles, water line plans and profiles, water network analysis, public street design, erosion and sediment control plans, fire lane plans, pavement designs, pavement striping and signage plans, maintenance of traffic plans, bond estimates and bond reductions. Assist clients with bonding and permitting procedures. Assist other company departments in the preparation of re-zonings, infill lot grading plans and preliminary plats. Possible attendance at evening meetings. Some involvement with industry related associations/organizations. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Competent in AutoCAD and Civil 3D Competent with various engineering programs such as HEC-RAS, Storm-CAD, Water-CAD or similar programs necessary for project site design Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and similar programs Above average written and oral Communication skills Project organizational and time management skills Good knowledge/experience of the land development and entitlement process for Northern Virginia Jurisdictions
