Salary: $99,819.20 - $140,566.40 Annually Location : Tacoma, WA Job Type: Non-Classified Remote Employment: Flexible/Hybrid Job Number: T Department: Power Division: Power Management Opening Date: 10/28/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Position Description ***SPECIAL NOTE: This position is open until filled; applications received by November 11, 2024, will receive first consideration *** Tacoma Power's Power Management division is looking for a Principal Energy Management Engineer to join their Business Customer Energy Solutions team. In this role you will develop and deliver energy conservation programs and secure energy efficiency measures with Tacoma Power's commercial and industrial customers by conducting engineering technical activities. This work is critical to achieving energy conservation targets and providing other energy-related services for the commercial and industrial sectors for Tacoma Power's Business Customer Energy Solutions section. Responsibilities Include: Provide customer technical services by preparing energy calculations related to refrigeration systems, industrial processes and compressed air, water and wastewater systems, HVAC systems, pumping and ventilation systems, motors and drives, lighting, and domestic water systems. Review calculations, energy evaluation reports and proposals prepared by consultants and others. Prepare or review computer energy simulation models of complex commercial buildings. Provide specifications, recommendations, and related engineering analyses; provide economic analyses of energy efficiency alternatives. Provide detailed measurement and verification protocols and evaluate energy performance of installed efficiency projects. Promote efficiency services to customers. Conduct field audits and inspections, interact directly with customers and trade allies such as engineering firms. Provide specialized technical input on energy conservation measures and technologies. Research and analyze technical information, new energy concepts, products and processes as related to the industrial and commercial building sector; prepare briefs and reports. Research, develop & implement energy efficiency programs, services and policies for the commercial and industrial sector. Qualifications Minimum Education* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or directly related field. Mechanical engineering degree preferred. Minimum Experience* 4 years of progressively responsible professional level engineering experience. Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements Washington State Driver's License *Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education Knowledge & Skills Core competencies required for this position include customer service, communicates effectively, manages ambiguity, resourcefulness, drives results, and collaborates. Experience with commercial HVAC system design, construction, and/or commissioning is highly desired. Familiarity with Washington State Energy Code and/or other industry standard practices is preferred.
