TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Louisville, Kentucky, 40202 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Step Down Job Specialty: Neuro-Spine Transitional Care Unit Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift: 19:00 - 07:30 Guaranteed Hours: Experience: 2 years required License: RN Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience using the TOR-BSST (Toronto Bedside Swallowing Screening Testing) assessment tool Job Description: - Work schedule from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. - Required to work every other weekend. - Nurse will float to various healthcare facilities and units within their scope of practice. - The unit consists of several pods with a total of 39 beds, and includes MedSurg-rated floors with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:3-4, with a potential worst-case scenario of 1:5. - Current EMR system used: EPIC. - Charge Nurse available without patient assignments. Responsible for performing all blood cultures. - Nurse Aides follow a PCA 1:10 ratio. - Potential holiday work, depending on unit needs. - Dress code: "Galaxy Blue" scrubs (Cherokee brand preferred); royal blue also acceptable. - Must be skilled in telemetry and able to read strips; will manage rare tracheostomy cases and assist with Bipap or CPAP for respiratory therapy management at night. - Hospitalist or Intensivist available; ER Physician present at night. - Support services include a 24/7 respiratory therapy team, pharmacy with tube station on unit, and an IV team available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. - Required to float to other areas such as PACU and ER hold, but will only take hold patients. - One day of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor. - Common patient diagnoses include stroke, back surgeries, brain tumors, MedSurg/Tele overflow, and congestive heart failure (CHF).
