Description Job Title: Sr Linux Consultant Clearance Required: N/A Work Location: Remote Temporary Assignment (3 months) Key Responsibilities: Provide mentorship to Linux Administrators on the NOAA Data Stewardship contract Train Linux Administrators in command line operations and provide Linux Admins with information on how their specific roles support the larger enterprise or technical environment for Data Stewardship Report progress regularly to Alpha Omega Program Manager Provide Alpha Omega Program Management with guidance for Linux Admin certifications based on the core functional areas of the Data Stewardship program to ensure continued learning and certifications are in alignment with the scope of the work Ensure that team stick to technical architecture standards Responsible for writing and reviewing standards for performance measurement and improvement continuously during a three-month period of focused development and training for Junior Linux Administrators Stay up to date on emerging technology trends and promote an environment of learning Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelors or Master's in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Management Experience/Skills: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a major services organization, with large-scale or project management and oversight experience. Demonstrated expertise in Linux Administration and Command Line Operations 8+ years in a System Engineer role, with leadership experience Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices Knowledge of governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to cyber security and data protection Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions, best practices and standards for Linux Administration mentor focused efforts Internally and externally recognized subject matter expert that influence the way things are done and incorporate agency specific knowledge into training approach and process for junior positions Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a technical leadership role Highest personal and professional integrity and strong work ethics Ability to articulate vision of transformation efforts and a sense of mission Willingness to take change and provide direction Results orientation, willingness to commit to a direction and drive operations to completion Demonstrated ability to manage adversity and challenging situations Relationship management experience Ability to manage senior relationships across all the business and functional areas Ability to develop cooperative and constructive working relationships Ability to handle complaints, settle disputes and resolve conflicts and negotiate with others Collaborative team player orientation towards work relationships, strong culture awareness Project oversight and decision-making abilities Highly developed skills in priority setting and alignment of project priorities with departmental strategy Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals Ability to get to the heart of the problem and make sound and timely decisions to resolve problems Effectiveness in building trust, respect and cooperation among teams Preferred expert knowledge in Microsoft Azure Cloud data offerings and usage.
