Job Title: Estimator Job Description We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Estimator to join our AZ branch office. The ideal candidate will provide and coordinate all estimating services necessary for procuring process piping projects. This role demands a strong focus on accuracy, thoroughness, and profitability. The Estimator will also play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with the Estimating Departments of targeted General Contractors. Responsibilities + Regularly contact the Pre-Construction Departments of targeted General Contractors to identify opportunities. + Evaluate opportunities to ensure alignment with business models, competitive advantages, and profitability goals. + Review all plans, P&IDs, specifications, and contracts prior to preparing estimates to identify any impacts on the work. + Learn and operate a computer-based take-off and estimating system to provide reproducible results. + Coordinate drawings, scopes, and points of contact with other trades. + Prepare RFIs for project bidding. + Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors. + Prepare recaps, general conditions, schedules, and letters for projects. + Run job reports in preparation for bid reviews with the Estimating Manager. + Assist in selling the project, including developing a scope of supply, presentations, entertaining, negotiating, and closing. + Participate in kickoff meetings, presenting the scope of work, work plan, budget, unusual requirements, and any critical limitations. + Assist in tracking productivity of labor units. + Participate in daily staff meetings to identify scope deviations, monitor production, and forecast future work. + Assist with developing alternate plans to recover projects where actual performance is not meeting budgeted plans. Essential Skills + 3+ years of estimating experience, preferably with a mechanical contractor but open to GCs. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel. + Experience with Revit and Navisworks. + Strong knowledge of estimation, mechanical systems, preconstruction processes, process piping, plumbing, HVAC, semiconductor, and biopharmaceutical industries. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in process piping, equipment, and pipe fabrication within the semiconductor or biopharmaceutical industry. + Field/Craft experience. + Understanding of piping and installation. + Bachelors degree in construction management or mechanical engineering. Work Environment The position is based onsite, with occasional travel to nearby job sites. The typical start time for Estimators is early, around 6:00/6:30 AM. The role is hourly with opportunities for occasional overtime. Relocation assistance may be available for highly qualified candidates.
