The Opportunity This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Working here will make you feel like you're part of a family that works together to make a difference and help nourish millions of families around the world. **** Position may be a 14 based on experience **** What You'll Work On Estimate project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort. Prepare project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project. Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans. Assure project quality by using standard development methodologies and by working with SQA to develop and execute project quality plans. Communicate project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings. Resolve project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate. Consult with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques. Participate in external project management organizations, conferences and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management. Establish and cultivate an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments. Participate in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel. May lead a project team. Participate in determining goals and objectives for projects. Influence middle management on technical or business solutions. Interact with vendors. Plan and organize non-routine tasks with approval. Initiate or maintain work schedule. Establish priorities of work assignments. Exercise judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution. Provide engineering support to all aspects of the operation. Create technical documentation as required to complete scope of work of projects. Support operations needs as determined by department and site leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree plus 6+ years of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Degree Preferred.
