Server Administrator 100% onsite position 1 year contract with strong potential to extend or convert TECHEAD is seeking an Industrial Control System (ICS) Server Administrator that is responsible for the operational technology server infrastructure and associated applications that support our plant and field control systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: Acts as subject matter expert for server virtualization (VMware), server data protection, database management and disaster recovery capabilities by implementing and managing VMware and Veeam server, data and application replication technologies. Responsible for configuring, maintaining, and administering physical and virtual servers, Windows Server and Ubuntu Server operating systems, installing hardware and software upgrades and patches, and advanced troubleshooting. Administers and maintains operating system patching systems such as Ubuntu Landscape and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Evaluates and implements operating system upgrades. Assists in integrating new applications and technologies into the current server architecture. Analyzes issues and implements solutions to improve existing configurations and prevent downtime. Performs system administration, including account management, storage management and performance tuning. Monitors and responds to any ICS server issues. Resolves trouble tickets, responds to alerts for servers and replaces failed devices or components. Monitors system capacities and makes recommendations for system enhancement and expansion. Implements and manages monitoring, logging and alerting solutions for ICS servers. Develops and oversees all disaster recovery aspects for all elements of ICS servers. Plans, designs, implements, and administers ICS server infrastructure including SQL database servers. Monitors and responds to server alerts or usability concerns. Creates and maintains technical documentation to include technical specifications, server architecture drawings, scopes of work, user procedures and processes, and user training materials. Works with ICS Technology and City Water stakeholders to plan and implement new data sharing infrastructure. Stays abreast of current technology trends, developments and best practices; makes recommendations for enhancements. Assists in establishing and implementing short and long-term goals related to ICS technology, providing recommendation and cost estimates regarding upgrades. Reviews all proposed upgrades and designs of system components for applicability and compatibility with existing systems and standards. Creates, maintains and executes procedures to collect, monitor, and assess ICS performance data as part of a preventive maintenance program. Acts as liaison between the I&T Department and City Water Maintenance and ICS Technology in matters related to ICS and server technology. Works with I&T to ensure compliance with City standards and represents City Water ICS needs. Analyzes, extracts, combines, interprets, and summarizes data from various sources to generate analytical reports in tabular and/or graphical form for operational, management, or executive ICS server related decisions. Performs related work as required. Required Education and Experience At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in the design and configuration of a variety of services and operating systems, including virtualization as well as data center operations Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities Veeam Backup administration and management VMware vSphere administration and management MariaDB administration and management Python scripting experience preferred General knowledge of water and wastewater operations is helpful ICS Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, implementation and support WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
