POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for accurately processing members' transactions while promoting the credit union's products and services. Tellers play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with Del One members by engaging members in conversation, building strong relationships, and educate members about Del One products and services. This position answers questions regarding member accounts and has knowledge of the Credit Union's products and services. Applies the knowledge to assist members as well as adhere to policies and procedures. Handles every transaction promptly and professionally assuring repeat business. As the first point of contact, tellers must offer quality member service encouraging members to choose Del-One as their primary financial institution. Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of Teller functions. Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner. Performs routine member transactions on all accounts, including but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments/payoffs, transfers, stop payments, and travelers checks. Receives payments for home equities, installment, and share secured loans; ensuring that payments equal the amount due and that all late charges, if applicable, are collected. Opens and closes cash drawer daily. Processes assigned cash and transactions and balances at end of day in accordance with policy and procedure. Acts with due diligence to prevent fraud; complete CTR and report any suspicious activity. Verifies transactions. Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly. Processes changes to existing accounts; places orders for checks and VISA check and ATM cards; opens additional suffixes and share draft accounts; closes accounts/memberships. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members. Ensures that members' requests, questions, problems, or complaints are promptly resolved and/or directs them to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance. Provides in person, by telephone, or by mail, such information as members may authorize concerning their account status; assists members with completing proper forms for account maintenance, fraud, disputes, etc. Receives and processes changes of name, addresses, and other account information as needed. Assists members with coin machines; balances machine as needed. Ensures that all members are informed of Credit Union services and policies including eligibility for membership, types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services and information. Maintains privacy of member account information. Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations. Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with branch personnel and with management. Assists branch personnel as required. Keeps supervisor informed of branch activities and of any significant problems or concerns. Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly. Attends meetings as required. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Performs drive-up teller and night drop functions as assigned. Prepares coins for pick-up; assists with balancing of ATM and TCD. Prepares interoffice mail. Cross-sells Credit Union services (i.e. Mortgage and Financial Planning). Ensures that work area is clean, well maintained, and secure. Assists Branch and Assistant Branch Managers with special assignments. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS Teller functions are efficiently, effectively, and accurately performed in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedures. Monies are balanced and any discrepancies promptly resolved. A balancing record that meets established standards is maintained. Good business relations exist with members. Members' problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved. Good working relationships and coordination exist with coworkers and with management. Assistance is provided to other Tellers and staff as needed. Supervisors are appropriately informed of branch activities. Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely. The Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Teller policies and procedures Basic understanding of Credit Union operations EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1-3 years related experience SKILLS/ABILITIES : Exceptional communication (written and verbal) skills; telephone etiquette Excellent member service skills Professional appearance, dress, and attitude Basic mathematical skills Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, and telephone Good typing skills Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIRMENTS TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly AVERAGE HEARING : Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information FINGER DEXTERITY : Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together REPETITIVE MOTION: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery PHYSICAL STRENGTH : Medium work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly WORKING CONDITIONS NONE : No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIRMENTS REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform basic math skills and to use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5-6,000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation Ability to write complex sentences using proper punctuation, adjectives, and adverbs Ability to communicate in complex sentences using normal word order with present and past tenses; and using a good vocabulary Applicant preferably speak both English and Spanish fluently.
