Under the direction of the Senior Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, you will play a critical role in the direct solicitation of major gifts and leadership annual gifts ($1,000 - $25,000 or more) to support Wolverine Pathways, the Center for Educational Outreach, the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives, and other U-M DEI programs. The Associate Director will also identify and qualify major gift prospects. You will increase the number of leadership annual and major gift donors, and revenue, to ODEI programs, and help build the funding priorities set by the UM Chief Diversity Officer and Schools/Colleges/Units. Frequent travel is required. This is a hybrid position - you must live within a commutable distance of campus and be willing to work onsite at least 3 days per week. Before the end of the term limit, it could be considered for a term extension or for transition to an open-ended position. Responsibilities* Advance individual relationships that result in philanthropic contributions: Identify, qualify, and manage a portfolio of approximately 10 prospective donors with the capacity to make gifts of $100,000 or above and 60 donors with the capacity to give $10,000 and more. Complete at least 100 personal visits and substantive interactions with prospects and donors each year. Participate in 40-50 gift solicitations per year of $10,000 or above. In partnership with the Stewardship Team, facilitate comprehensive stewardship of all ODEI donors, with individualized stewardship plans for donors 10K and above. Work with the Prospect Development and Analytics team to gather data, assess prospects, and develop strategies designed to work towards the current and life-time giving potential of individual prospects. Oversee ODEI annual giving and digital fundraising program, including solicitations and mailings, digital fundraising programs (Giving Blueday, Giving Tuesday), and stewardship. Lead the daily operations of the development generalist. Manage fundraising workflow, determine priorities, coordinate staff assignments, and provide project management. Ensure appropriate delegation of work to ensure the quality and timeliness of the team's deliverables. Required Qualifications* 3 to 4 years relevant experience in sales and marketing, or other related fields, or a baccalaureate degree Demonstrate cultural awareness, knowledge, and competency while conducting their work. Life or professional experience working with diverse populations. Experience working with four and five-figure gifts or sales and marketing accounts Comfortable with software programs for retrieving, organizing and researching appropriate donor/prospect information gathering and manipulation.
