Know Your Rights: Responsibilities The Rehab Director/Prospective Pay Systems (PPS) Coordinator/Stroke coordinator evaluates the activities of the Acute Rehab Unit employees and Stroke Program to ensure quality patient care. Develops goals, policies and procedures. Assists with the development and implementation of initiatives, including staff education activities related to stroke care. This person also Coordinates, assesses, monitors, and evaluates the IRF-PAI (Inpatient Rehab Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument) process, which determines a patient's RIC (Rehab Impairment Category), CMG (Case Mix Group) and payment under the rehabilitation Prospective Payment System (PPS) and the outcome measurements. Functions as a vital member of the interdisciplinary team. Is knowledgeable and stays abreast of Medicare regulations affecting the Inpatient rehabilitation facility so appropriate reimbursement can be realized. Educates and ensures staff is knowledgeable in accurate Quality Indicator assessment and documentation. Audits charts to ensure competency with reimbursement guidelines. Educates physicians on admission criteria and clinical documentation to support admission and reimbursement. Evaluates and works to improve outcome measurements. Participates in performance improvement activities. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Pathology. 2. Current valid license state license as a Registered Nurse, Physical therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Pathologist 3. 2 years of experience in an acute rehab area. 3 years of management experience in a multidisciplinary health care setting. 4. BLS Course from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) certification upon hire and maintain current 5. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. 6. Knowledgeable on current State Laws and Regulations as applicable to facility and Stroke program. 7. Certification in Rehabilitation nursing preferred for RNs
