Full Benefits, 401K, etc. Job Details Principal Mechanical Engineer / VP of Engineering P.E. - NYC/Hybrid We are seeking a VP of Engineering to join our team in NYC. Successful candidates will have a Professional Engineering License (PE) with local NYC experience. The Vice President will be a key member of the leadership team and will work closely with our offices in New York and potentially other market regions. The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background with a professional interest and expertise in MEP industry. The candidate must have a working knowledge of buildings mechanical, electrical and other support systems. Additionally, the candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise, proven leadership, management and excellent communication skills. Must have Airside and Waterside System Experience for Institutional/Public Sector Projects, New Buildings and Existing facility upgrades. Qualifications BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering NYS PE License Required Minimum 15-25 years of experience in designing MEP Projects and leading an engineering department Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills Must have demonstrated familiarity with NYC and NYS building codes Experience with municipalities, government agencies a plus Prior experience with DASNY, CUNY, OGS and other NYS Agencies is desired Duties Proven track record with experience in being the engineer of record for projects ranging from $5M-$75M of construction capital. The projects should be focused on heavy mechanical and electrical large system infrastructure improvement and renovation projects such as: Boiler plant upgrades; Chiller plant upgrades; Electrical upgrades (converting from fossil to electrical for decarbonization initiatives); Air handling unit replacements; Distribution piping system upgrades (underground and with buildings); BMS control upgrades including designing and developing system architecture and sequence of operations. Self-starting nature with ability to see tasks through completion while meeting project budgets and deadlines. Experience in preparing and writing basis of designs. Lead the design engineering efforts for the design of mechanical and electrical systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types. Experience in managing and leading a team of engineers, designers, and CAD operators. Ability to develop engineering calculations and technical reports using Microsoft Office suite. Develop construction documents including design drawings and project specifications. Perform construction administrative duties such as preparation of field reports, provide responses to RFI's, process bulletins and addenda, review of shop drawings and submittals, etc. May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances. Work closely and collaboratively with other Executive Leaders for the continual improvement of systems, deliverables, and personnel. Assess the capabilities of existing and future talent. Provide recommendations for training or additional professional development for the improvement of talent or other options to increase the strengths and capabilities of the organization. Leads the continual improvement of ensuring compliance with quality assurance policies and business objectives. Leadership, training and mentoring for all Engineering staff. Establish engineering training curriculum each quarter. Assist project developers and technical engineers to think strategically, differently, and bigger. Strong organizational skills, verbal, and written communication skills. Play a supporting role in business development activities leading to award of the contract including client relationship development, project-specific positioning activities, teaming arrangements, proposal presentation support, oral presentation support, and contract negotiation. Leads the efforts in the presentation of proposals and contracts by developing project approach, scope of services and budgets based on similar project experience and participate in client interviews. Coordinate with the client and the design team, including owners, architects, contractors, members of other disciplines, and internal support staff to ensure the design is consistent with the project goals and ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design. Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, gather information, meet with clients, and observe construction and help resolve field issues during construction. Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
