IT Project Lead, Application Systems Full-time | Remote with regular travel Summary The IT Project Lead, Application Systems, must be a high-energy and highly motivated self-starter who executes strategic planning and projects with urgency and a focus on continuous improvement. Flexibility and the ability to multi-task are essential. This role involves maintaining key relationships with the business/customer base, vendors, and all areas of IT to provide exceptional service. The candidate should be able to self-manage and effectively coach/manage teams and vendors to complete projects and tasks on time with minimal supervision. As a project manager, a PMP certification is desired. The position encompasses managing and coordinating all development activities for the application landscape, including business area partnership for strategic alignment of technologies/tools, requirements definition, vendor evaluation, process reengineering, design, development, documentation, release management, and production support. The IT Project Lead will handle multiple projects across various business areas and provide input into the evaluations of other associates. Principal and Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Management: Work with our Supply Chain business areas, focusing on Transportation and Logistics, to fully understand functional requirements and execute projects that support business needs. Utilize standard processes/documentation and demonstrate proficiency in project management. PMP certification is a plus. Team Leadership: Lead a team of IT staff to develop effective, efficient solutions that meet business requirements. Coach and manage the team to ensure project success. Technology Utilization: Maximize the use of available technology to enhance and improve business processes. Resource Management: Define and maintain project resource requirements and collaborate with resource managers and executives to secure the best talent. Recruitment and Development: Assist leadership in recruiting and developing a diverse work team, focusing on continuous improvement. Relationship Building: Build effective working relationships within Application Systems, other IT areas, and the business community. Minimum Education BS degree or equivalent related work experience in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or Computer Science. 8-10 years of related work experience. Experience Requirements Required: Recognized expertise or certification in Project Management, utilizing WBS and project management tools to manage projects, resources, and budgets. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, effective communication both verbally and in writing, and the ability to translate complex business problems into proposed solutions. Demonstrated progression in IT systems development from programming through systems development methodology, or equivalent skills in leading technical professionals. Preferred: Experience with S4/Hana Supply Chain modules and business processes, particularly in Transportation Management (TMS). Understanding of manufacturing and warehouse business processes, including inventory management and EDI. Continuous improvement experience in the poultry industry is a plus. Decision-Making Responsibilities The IT Project Lead has medium to large decision-making authority over resources required for project completion. This includes defining tasks, timelines, and implementation methods for each project, and providing resource plans to drive productive conversations with business areas, IT, and vendors for effective project management and prioritization. Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements Possible rotating weekly on-call. Mostly sedentary position but may require occasional movement to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies. Access to files, supplies, and equipment required. Work in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment. This position requires working from our corporate office in Salisbury, MD (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm). Some minor overnight travel, including travel to manufacturing plants, 3PLs, and/or conferences to support strategic projects. Plant Environment: Exposure to wet and moist floors, metal and plastic grating surfaces. Handling product in temperatures ranging from 25°F to 50°F. Exposure to noise levels from 50 db to 110 db. Exposure to chemicals found in poultry, food, and processing plants. Required to wear protective and safety equipment. Exposure to temperatures from 28°F to 100°F with both ambient and 100% humidity.
