The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of standard to moderately complex technical tasks related to facility maintenance. Essential Functions: Maintains facilities and production equipment to ensure it is in safe working order. Understands basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Troubleshoot minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing and equipment repair and replacement. Sets up new office spaces or cubicles by assembling and moving furniture, hanging pictures and bulletin boards, making name plates, moving and settling up tables and chairs. Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, and patches holes in walls. Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unclogging toilets, sinks or urinals. Fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains. Strong attention to detail Problem solving skills Strong interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Some work performed on ladders or step stools, Competencies: Ability to follow detailed directions Able to maintain a schedule of job functions on a daily basis Initiative, Thoroughness and time management skills Verbal communication regarding facility matters and supply needs to members of Management Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to moving parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be medium. Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Hours may vary depending on company needs. Travel: None at this time. Required Education and Experience: Minimum of a high school education. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions. 3 years' experience related to building maintenance and equipment. Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of the buildings. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints and procedure manuals. Preferred: Experience in an electronics environment.
