Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally. We are currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who will help our organization achieve new levels of quality and manufacturing efficiency. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with others in various departments across the organization to streamline processes, integrate new equipment, and develop procedures. This position reports to the Director of Quality. Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the Quality Department in the evaluation of quality control processes, planning of improvement activities, and implementing changes. Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and provide management with reports containing data and statistics to better understand current performance and future manufacturing capacity needs. Generate and maintain work instructions for assembling products. Create and keep up to date risk assessments and control plans for products or processes. Ensure that the company's manufacturing processes follow all government laws and regulations. Design and implement specialized tooling and apparatuses for production activities. Optimize production floor layouts for space savings and efficiency using 3-D design software packages. Provide engineering economic analysis and cost justification of new equipment to support production requirements along with full responsibility for integration, training, and upkeep. Design and implementation of new work-cells using lean manufacturing principles. Liaison with production workers in 5-S. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies. Support the company's ISO/Ex initiatives. Qualifications & Competencies Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, systems, or industrial Engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience in a related role. Background in manufacturing of products with electronic circuit board assemblies. Strong project management and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Products software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in continuous improvement, lean concepts, or kaizen. Must be able to operate efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. Working Conditions Office setting with occasional need for travel (less than 10%). Physical Requirements The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, or crouch. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
