Overview Emergency Vehicle Technician (APG ): Bowhead seeks an Emergency Vehicle Technician. This individual will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks involving minor and major mechanical service and repair of Heavy Equipment to include inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, hydraulic systems and steering systems, service and repair Fire Trucks, Fire Apparatus, Aerial Equipment, Fire Rescue Vehicles and Miscellaneous Fire Equipment. Responsibilities Applicant must be a certified EVT with current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and EVT certifications for the following areas: ASE: T2 Truck, Diesel Engines T3 Truck, Drive Train T4 Truck, Brakes T5 Truck, Suspension and Steering T6 Truck, Electrical Systems EVT: F1 Maintenance, Inspection, and Testing of Fire Apparatus F2 Design & Performance Standards of Fire Apparatus F3 Fire Pumps and Accessories F4 Fire Apparatus Electrical Systems Essential functions will include: Inspection and repair of brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, hydraulic systems, and steering systems. Routine/scheduled maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles. Maintenance and repairs on Emergency Response Vehicles primarily, Pierce, Seagrave, and E-One Fire Equipment. Complete repairs and perform services in accordance with the guidance in established technical manuals. Repair, service, and maintenance of fire department pumpers, squads, aerial devices, tankers, wildland apparatus, and more. Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing, and installing components, and removing and installing assemblies. Must be able to understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics that will be utilized during scheduled service intervals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair of vehicles and equipment. Have knowledge of NFPA 1071 and 1911. Demonstrate Technical knowledge required for a certified Level II EVT Technician. Technical recommendations to mechanics performing maintenance task on Fire Apparatuses. Verify and approve all repairs completed on emergency vehicles. Ability to document and maintain historical records of repairs made on Emergency Vehicle Fire Apparatuses. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications ASE & EVT level II certifications as described above with a high school diploma or equivalent is required in addition A minimum of three (3) years' experience performing inspection, testing, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of fire suppression systems and other related fire/life safety (FLS) equipment. Must possess a valid State issued Class B CDL and be able to obtain/maintain a forklift license. A Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated pre-employment medical examination and drug screening are required. Must be able to, understand, and follow technical manuals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair. Knowledge in maintenance of military vehicles and equipment preferred. Basic to intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite. Physical Demands: Bend, Squat, Stoop, Crouch, Lean, Sit, and Balance. Work with power/automated hand tools. Lift/carry/push/slide up to 50 pounds. Stand for long periods of time Repeat the same movements. Work in automotive repair shop around moving objects, vehicles, machinery with moving parts, and confined spaces. Exposure to adverse excessive noise, weather conditions, exhaust fumes, gasoline, diesel fuel, and other vehicle fluids/lubricants. SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Public Trust clearance for this position. #LI-KM1
