Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Purpose of Position: The primary role in the position is to support outside plant fiber optic network design through the use of CAD/ 3GIS and design processes. Encompasses the use of integrated systems for computer-aided design used for the systematic representation and dimensional specification of mechanical and architectural structures. Prepares drawings or schematics for outside plant systems, equipment, and structures. Major Responsibilities: • Outside Plant Engineer will create complex CAD designs utilizing numerous layers and blocks and incorporate custom title blocks and custom layouts as needed or required by the customer and export ESRI shapefiles as needed for import into 3GIS. • Create permit drawings for City, County, DOT, and MOT permits. Understanding of where to gather necessary utility information and annotate into the drawing package. • Create underground bore profile drawings and/or aerial pole data tables. • Assemble design in the most cost-effective method with understanding of the impact of construction and material cost and the optimization of Corning specified materials • Create construction level prints for OSP FTTX designs. Required Qualifications: • Four-year degree from an accredited engineering program. BS in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Desired. • Minimum of 2 years of experience with 3GIS • Minimum of 1 year of combined experience of fiber optic designs Desired Qualifications: • Verizon 3GIS experience • Experience creating permit drawings for fiber installation on poles. • Knowledge of Procore Technologies Construction Management Software. • Familiarity with outside plant surveying using devices like Trimble and IKE and understanding the incorporation of data transfers from these devices into CAD. Other Requirements: • Minimum travel is expected (25%) • Selected candidate Person must be willing to remain in this position for a minimum of two years. This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $66,001.00 - $90,752.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
