Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist I (Echo)

Summary: Using cardiovascular imaging equipment and standards, the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist prepares and performs non-invasive diagnostic procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data under close-to-moderate supervision. By interviewing and preparing patients with in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drives optimal care outcomes. Responsibilities: • Performs and reports results of non-invasive echocardiographic diagnostic procedures. • Ensures positive patient identification. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control. • Reads, comprehends and transcribes imaging order, engaging with physician when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review. • Interviews patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety. • Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy, pathology and the capabilities/limitations of both imaging hardware and specific imaging sequences. • Measure, evaluate and record gradients using pressure measurements recorded with Doppler ultrasound system. • Review and chart record of care into electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
