POSITION SUMMARY: Community Wellness and Outreach Support Specialist's primary responsibilities are to build strategic relationships, conduct outreach activities, organize a variety of events and recruit and retain clients for the variety of programs for all IHC/CWO programs. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : Create outreach and marketing materials for programs, events, and department Participate in and/or attend community events such as health fairs, pow-wows and community forums, as a representative of IHC Outreach for CWO community events Send out communications to community members regarding CWO and IHC events Plan and facilitate community events and health promotion/disease prevention programs Facilitate monthly produce distributions Report on produce distribution activities to Second Harvest Food Bank Ensure literature and brochures are available for community members seeking resources and information at the Wellness Center Serve as a resource for community members that reach out to the Wellness Center for resources Develop and maintain resource guide and referral system to support safety net clients Recruit, place, retain and support IHC/CWO volunteers Provide referrals to community resources, particularly housing, education, legal, as well as other social and medical services as needed Act as a liaison between IHC, Indian agencies and organizations, and other community agencies Develop and maintain linkages to facilitate the identification and referral of American Indians/Alaska Natives and other community members into the Indian Health Center Promote CWO services internally within Indian Health Center through interdepartmental outreach and communications Prepare written materials and reports for the CWO Program Manager and grants Responsible for the creation of a quarterly CWO newsletter Maintain mailing lists Provide transportation to patients in the absence of the CWO Transporter Other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: Bachelors Degree preferred or 1 years of outreach experience would be accepted Bilingual in written and spoken Spanish preferred Experience working with American Indian/Alaskan Natives and other diverse populations Possession of good organizational, project management and leadership skills Able to take on tasks independently and with a team Demonstrated ability to perform multiple administrative functions simultaneously in an accurate, organized, and efficient manner Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment Communicate effectively at all levels; written and spoken Good public speaking skills with individuals and to large groups Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel Possession of a valid California Driver License and automobile insurance
