Responsibilities This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with a team of Endocrinology Physicians and NPs/PAs, Registered Dieticians, nurses, and Certified Diabetes Educators in the evaluation and treatment of outpatients with a variety of endocrine disorders in a subspecialty endocrine practice. Responsibilities include occasional consultative care for inpatients with endocrine disorders at Strong Memorial Hospital, and primarily outpatient subspecialty care at Strong Hospital and Clinton Crossing clinics for patients referred to the U of R ambulatory practice. Duties will include: obtaining appropriately comprehensive medical history; performance of appropriate physical examinations; development of differential diagnoses and plans of care; implementation of appropriate diagnostic work-ups and treatments; appropriate medication management; and communication of recommendations to primary referring providers. Additional responsibilities include: performing and/or coordinating hormonal dynamic testing or infusions; interacting with insurance companies to obtain authorization for specialty medications, equipment, or procedures; and ongoing management of insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensor systems to optimize diabetes management. Participation in departmental, local and national activities is encouraged and supported. This position requires excellent clinical, communication, and collaborative skills. Candidate must be a NYS licensed or eligible NP/PA. Motivated new graduates with acute care experience will be considered. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training Qualifications Nurse Practitioner Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives. Physician Assistant Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.
