Walter USA, LLC is seeking a multifaceted, driven, and experienced metal cutting engineer for the role of Manufacturing Engineer based in Cleveland, Ohio. The role requires working within a team environment at the Cleveland Production Unit, in both an office setting and Production support. This individual reports to the Engineering & QEHS Manager. Profile and Position Summary In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our Endmills manufacturing unit with routings, manufacturing strategy, manufacturing drawings, training & support to production team and improvement initiatives. The candidate will pride themself in their knowledge in process improvement, problem solving, and machining to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods. Our ideal candidate enjoys being hands on and a great teammate, working closely with our CNC Technicians and Operators to make process improvements while collaborating with other employees and teams for continuous improvement opportunities, changes, and corrective actions. You should hold a bachelor's degree in manufacturing/mechanical engineering and/or have relevant experience in a CNC machining/grinding environment. Basic Six Sigma and lean manufacturing exposure is also helpful. Duties & Responsibilities • Use Inventor to build manufacturing process drawings that clearly outline the process steps for manufacturing and ensure success in manufacturing. • Create stable process to deliver quality work to production. • Develop, test, and implement new tooling, CNC programs and machinery. • Train operators and technicians on new equipment and technologies. • Build manufacturing routing and standards for all products to be manufactured in the facility. • Document standard processes and implement process improvements. • Actively engaged in continuous improvement projects. • Work with other Sandvik plants in identifying best practices that can be implemented in Cleveland. • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures crafted to eliminate problems and improve product quality. • Create documentation to support manufacturing in the facility and subcontractors. • Follow safety, health, and environmental procedures pertaining to company, legal, and ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards. • Support production together with maintenance to assure that the machines are functioning according to the desired level. • Lead projects; create and maintain timeline; follow up the progress of the projects. • Support local and global projects. • Conduct training and presentations to the employees. Liaison between Engineering and Sub-contractors. • Manage Manufacturing change process. • Recommend changes in process instruction or process print deviations or changes. • Participates in additional duties as required. Your background and profile Must be able to leverage strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with management and employees. Must be able to read, write and speak English and possess good communication and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft products. Adept in project management. Must be able to work without direct supervision and take ownership of projects. Must be able to work with Inventor software, program and operate CNC machines. Competence to operate CNC machines is a plus. Demonstrate good problem solving, analytical thinking, and decision making. Strong drive to satisfy customers (internal/external), achieve results, and improve processes through innovative and continuous improvements. Ability to create work instructions, presentations, and other documentation using MS Office software. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Experience in LEAN manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement principles preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or similar field is preferred, but not required. Consideration of applicable experience may be accepted.
